I visited Beylerbeyi Palace two days ago. Winter is not a good time to visit here because the garden is lovely and you want to spend some time there. I recommend it to my guest and tourists.
About this Place
Beylerbeyi Palace is a historical palace located in the Beylerbeyi neighborhood of Istanbul, Turkey. The palace was built in the late 19th century during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz as a summer residence for the sultan and his family.
The palace is situated on the Asian side of Istanbul, on the shores of the Bosphorus strait, and offers beautiful views of the strait and the surrounding area.
It is a large palace that comprises three main buildings connected by covered walkways. The palace also has a large garden and a pier for boats.
The palace was designed by the Ottoman court architect Sarkis Balyan and his son Nigogos Balyan and is considered an example of late Ottoman architecture.
The palace mixes traditional Ottoman and European architectural styles and is decorated with intricate tile work, frescoes, and chandeliers.
Additional Buildings and Gardens:
The Marble Kiosk: A hunting lodge was built by the order of Sultan Mahmud II between 1829-1832, taking its name from its outer walls made of marble, which also features a fountain and a pool inside.
The Yellow Kiosk: Located near the Marble Kiosk, the Yellow Kiosk faces the garden on one side and the street on the other, with two floors and a basement. It is an outstanding example of the period, known for its beautiful ceilings and other interior decoration.
Stable Kiosk: Representing Ottoman horse culture, this kiosk is located at the top of the terraced garden. Horses and other animal figures are portrayed on the ceiling of the Entrance Hall, and the stable consists of 20 stalls on each side. Reliefs with horse head and eye motifs are found on the chandeliers and other fittings.
Palace Gardens: The gardens of the prestigious Beylerbeyi Palace, connected by ramps and stairs, cover an area of seventy thousand square meters. Magnolia and chestnut trees in the imperial garden, linden trees in the Harem garden, and judas trees - the symbol of Bosphorus- in the terraced gardens were planted during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II.
Marine Kiosks: These kiosks are referred to as "tent kiosks" and "nevresm kiosks" in archive documents, indicating their original design. Both kiosks, one belonging to the Mabeyn and the other (for the use of the sultan’s mother) to the Harem, have octagonal roofs, and their ceilings are adorned with depictions of various animal figures.
